YOU WILL NEED

  • I use 4-medium weight yarn.. You will need one skein of each color or just use scraps that you have around.

  • Colors- White, gray and black

  • US 5mm and optional 3.75mm crochet hook

  • A hot glue gun and glue sticks

  • Tapestry needle

  • Felt for backing

  • String to hang ornament— I use this cotton cord:

Hook

White Yarn

Cotton Yarn 

The stitches/ skills you will need to know and KEY:

  • Chain (ch)

  • Slip Stitch (sl st)

  • Single crochet (sc)

  • Increase (inc)

  • Decrease (dec)

  • Surface crochet

  • Weave ends and finish off.

Final Dimensions: 

5 x  5 inches

CROCHET PATTERN

 

White Boot:

With white and a 5mm crochet hook, chain 15

Row 1: sc in the second chain from the hook, sc across (14 sc)

Row 2: sc in the first 13 sc, inc in the last stitch (15 sc)

Row 3: sc evenly across (15 sc)

Row 4: sc in the first 13 sc, dec in the last stitch (14 sc)

Row 5: dec, sc in the next 12 sc (13 sc)

Row 6: sc in the first 9 stitches, dec the next two stitches together (10 sc)

Row 7: sc evenly across (10 sc)

Row 8: sc in the first 8 stitches, dec (9 sc)

Row 9: sc across (9 sc)

Row 10: sc in the first 7 stitches, dec (8 sc)

Row 11-13: sc across (8 sc)

Finish off and weave ends.

 

Black Bottom:

Attach black yarn to the last chain from your original chain 15 with a sc, sc across the bottom of the skate (14 sc)

Row 2: sc in the first four stitches. Finish off and weave ends.

 

Blade

With gray, chain 22

Row 1: sl st in the second chain from the hook, sl st going across the whole chain (21 sl st) Finish off and weave ends.

 

Blade attachment part 1 (closest to the toe)

Row 1: Insert into third stitch from end of row 1, sc in the back loop only, sc in the next two stitches blo, chain 1 and turn

Row 2: sc across (3 sc)

Finish off and weave ends.

 

Blade attachment part 2 (middle of the skate)

Row 1: Insert into third stitch from end of blade attachment part 1, sc in the back loop only, sc in the next two stitches blo, chain 1 and turn

Row 2: sc across (3 sc)

Finish off and weave ends.

 

Blade attachment part 3 (heel)

Row 1: Insert into fifth stitch from end of blade attachment part 2, sc in the back loop only, sc in the next three stitches blo, chain 1 and turn

Row 2: sc across (4 sc)

Finish off and weave ends.

 

Laces: Make 4

With white, make a chain of 5 (repeat 3 more times)

Glue the laces to the white boot (or sew)

Make black french knots next to the laces with black yarn and a tapestry needle.

 

Bow:

Chain 30 with white, finish off and weave both ends. Make a bow and glue to the boot.

 

Assembly:

Glue the whole skate and blade to felt and cut out the boot. If you want to make it into an ornament tie a piece of string, cotton cord or yarn and glue it in between the felt and skate.
