YOU WILL NEED

  • 4 medium weight yarn in red, white, blue and tan

  • 5mm

  • A hot glue gun and glue sticks

  • Tapestry needle

  • Felt for backing (optional)

Hook

The stitches/ skills you will need to know and KEY:

  • Chain (ch)

  • Slip Stitch (sl st)

  • Single crochet (sc)

  • Half double crochet (hdc)

  • Decrease (dec)

Final Dimensions: 

2.5 x 7 inches

CROCHET PATTERN

 

Stick:

With tan and a 5mm crochet hook, chain 10

Hdc in the third chain from the hook, hdc across. Finish off and weave ends (8hdc)

 

Popsicle

With blue, chain 9

Row 1: sc in the second chain from the hook, sc across (8 sc)

Row 2-6: sc across (8 sc)

Row 7-12: change to white, sc across (8 sc)

Row 13-15: change to red, sc across (8 sc)

Row 16: dec, sc in the next four stitches, dec (6 sts)

Row 17: dec, sc in the next two stitches, dec (4 sts)

Row 18: sc, dec, sc (3 sts)

Row 19: sc across (3 sc)

Row 20: sc, hdc, sc. Finish off and weave ends. (3 sts)

 

Grooves on the popsicle:

Make two blue and two white: chain 6, sc in the second chain from the hook, sc across. Finish off and weave ends. (5 sc)

Make two red: chain 4, sc in the second chain from the hook, sc across. Finish off and weave ends. (3 sc)

 

Glue the grooves to the popsicle and the stick to the back, use the picture as a guide. Then glue the entire piece to felt and you are done!

 

You can use this as a hanging ornament or decor if you also glue a string inbetween the felt and popsicle. You can make many of these popsicles and use them as garland. You can place it on a bag or put a pin on the back to make it into a broach. There are so many POPsibilities 😉
