YOU WILL NEED

I use 4-medium weight yarn.. You will need one skein of each color or just use scraps that you have around. Some parts I use two strands of yarn on the hook at the same time, requiring a 5mm hook. When using a single strand of yarn I used a 3.75mm hook.

Brown and white 4 medium weight yarn

US 5mm and 3.75mm crochet hook

A hot glue gun and glue sticks

Tapestry needle
-
Felt for backing (optional)

4 medium weight yarn – I recommend using I Love This Cotton from Hobby Lobby in Antique Gold and White

A piece of felt and some twine or string.

The stitches/ skills you will need to know and KEY:

Chain (ch)

Slip Stitch (sl st)

Weave ends and finish off.
Final Dimensions:
5 x 3.5 inches
How to make a French knot: Make a knot at one end of the strand of yarn and place the needle on the other end.Insert the needle from the back of the work to the front, wrap the yarn around the needle twice, insert the needle right next to the spot that it is being pulled up from the door and carefully pull through to the back.

CROCHET PATTERN
The house
With two strands of mustard or brown on a 5mm crochet hook, chain 12
Row 1: sc in the second chain from the hook, sc in the rest of the chains. Chain 1 and turn. [11 sts]
Row 2- 11: sc across [11 sts]
Row 12: dec, sc in the next 7 stitches, dec [9 sts]
Row 13: sc across [9 sts]
Row 14: dec, sc in the next 5 stitches, dec [7 sts]
Row 15: sc across [7 sts]
Row 16: dec, sc in the next 3 stitches, dec [5 sts]
Row 17: sc across [5 sts]
Row 18: dec, sc in the next stitch, dec [3 sts]
Row 19: dec two times [2 sts]
Sl st in the last two stitches to finish off. Finish off and weave ends.
Roof trim
With one strand of white on a 3.75 hook, chain 13, sl st in the second chain from the hook, chain 12. Finish off and weave ends. Hot glue this piece to the roof of the house.
Square door
With one strand of white on 3.75mm hook, chain 8, sl st in the second chain from the hook, chain 4, sl st in the second chain from the hook, chain 7. Finish off and weave ends. Once hot glued into place you can make a french knot with one strand of white yarn as the door knob.
Rounded door
With one strand of white on a 3.75mm hook, chain 21. Finish off and weave ends. Hot glue into place.
Round window
With one strand of white on a 3.75mm hook, chain 17, sl st into the first chain. Finish off and weave ends. Next, chain 5, finish off and weave ends. Repeat the chain of 5 so that you have two separate chains.
Glue the two chains in a cross position, then glue the circle on top of that.
Square window
With one strand of white on a 3.75mm hook, *chain 6, sl st in the second chain from the hook*, repeat from *—* two more times, chain 6 sl st into first chain. Finish off and weave ends. Next chain 5, finish off and weave ends. Repeat the chain of 5.
Glue the two chains in a cross position, then glue the square on top of that.
Assembly:
Cut a 10 inch piece of yarn, twine or string for the ornament. Tie in a knot and glue to the back of the top of the house, then glue the house to felt. Cut out the house on the piece of felt.
Use white yarn and a tapestry needle to sew in extra designs and snow fall at the bottom of the house. To make the snow balls I made french knots.
