YOU WILL NEED

  • I use 4-medium weight yarn for all the appliqués in this pattern.

  • Colors you will need: green and black

  • A 5mm

  • Tapestry needle

  • Crochet Girl pattern available HERE

Yarn:

Black

Green

The stitches/ skills you will need to know and KEY:

  • Chain (ch)

  • Slip Stitch (sl st)

  • Single crochet (sc)

  • Double crochet (dc)

  • Weave ends and finish off.

CROCHET PATTERN

With black and a 5mm crochet hook, make a magic loop and chain 2

Inside magic loop: 3 dc, 3 sc, chain 1, dc, chain 1, 3 sc, 3 dc, chain 2, sl st into loop, pull loop tight to finish. Weave ends.

Make three hearts and then sew three sides together with a long piece of black yarn and a tapestry needle.

With green, sc in the front loops only around the sides and tops of the connected hearts. When you reach the center of a heart sl st into the center of the magic loop. Evenly single crochet from the bottom of one side all the way to the bottom the other side.

To make the stem, chain 3, sl st into the second chain from the hook, sl st into the next chain, sl st into the first green sc. Finish off and weave ends.

Make two of these shamrocks and place them on the face of your next crochet girl appliqué! Perfect for St. Patrick’s Day or anyone that is super proud to be Irish (like me!)
